A Discussion about Placentas
Mary had a home birth, by accident.
She and Ben didn't have a tarp ready, but they had to improvise due to Isaac's insistence on a speedy debut, so he was brought forth into the world in their home atop a plastic table cloth in their bedroom, surrounded by his mother, father, the midwives and Beth.
Ben's e-mail informed us giddily that there was a placenta in their freezer.
When I asked Mary what it had been disposed-of in, she said, "A cottage cheese container."
"WHAT!?! I thought placentas were big!" I was shocked.
She laughed at herself, maybe she hadn't been clear. So she clarified, "A BIG cottage cheese container!"
